Sifu David Mathisen is a gifted teacher, studying Wing Chun since 1992
Bay Area Native, Graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point, US Army Ranger School, Airborne School, Jumpmaster School, Air Assault School,
and commanded units in the 82nd AIRBORNE & 4th INFANTRY Divisions.
He was selected to return to West Point as an Instructor and along the way attended Texas A&M where he graduated with a Masters Degree in English Literature and encountered other lineages of Wing Chun.
David Mathisen began his Wing Chun journey in January, 1992 under the teaching of Sifu BRIAN EDWARDS in Fayetteville, North Carolina, at the legendary Tolar Street school.
Many students at the Wing Chun School were members of the Special Operations community, the Law Enforcement community, the 82nd Airborne Division, the 18th Airborne Corps of the US Army. Sifu BRIAN EDWARDS trained Wing Chun under the teaching of Sifu DUNCAN LEUNG in Virginia Beach in the 1970s and 1980s.
Since 2012, David has trained with SIFU DUNCAN LEUNG in China, Virginia Beach, and California,
and with his Applied Wing Chun Brothers and family in the United States and Australia.
